Iris at the Municipality of Doesburg

Iris by OpenIris has been the AI phone assistant of the Municipality of Doesburg's contact centre since July 2026. She answers 24/7 in 32 languages and transfers to staff when needed.

What does Iris do for Doesburg?

Iris answers on the municipality's own phone number, 24 hours a day, in the caller's language. She explains in plain language from the municipality's own information, transfers calls that need a person and gives the municipality an anonymised Dutch summary of every call. That leaves the Doesburg team more time for complex cases and human work.

How is privacy handled?

Personal data is filtered out of the transcript before it is stored or sent to a language model, and conversations are never used for training. The municipality is the data controller and OpenIris the processor. OpenIris offers the models through APIs within Europe, or fully sovereign as open source on its own GPUs.
